1-17 What is Christian Liberal Arts Education?

For thousands of years, educators, academics and philosophers have wrestled with the
question of the purpose and goals of education. In this presentation, we will consider the
purpose and goals of a Christian Liberal Arts college education. We will address the problems
of secularization and overspecialization that is prevalent in education today and show how
these problems are dealt with by Christian liberal arts education. Finally, we will demonstrate
the characteristics of a Christian liberal arts college using Christ’s College Taipei as an
example.
