If the Next Generation is Strong,
God’s Kingdom will be Strong

I was very happy to attend the 2016 International
Conference on Christian Education in March at Christ’s
College Taipei. As a representative of the China Christian
Education Association, not only was I able to share the
progress of Christian education in China, but I also got to
know more about the progress of Christian education in
Taiwan. We were all very touched to learn more about Dr.
James Graham’s mission to the Taiwanese.
Qichao Liang, an author from the Qing Dynasty, stated,
“If the youngsters are strong, the country will be strong.”
Shouldn’t it be the same for God’s kingdom? “If the next
generation is spiritually strong, God’s kingdom will be
strong.” Investing in education is necessary if a country or education provided by pagans. We often
a government seeks to improve; so investing in Christian
education is necessary for God’s kingdom to spread.
As we reflect on what we’ve done in
establishing Christian education in China,
we should ask ourselves if what we have
established is truly God-honoring. How
many resources have we used in teaching for
our Lord? Perhaps one of the characteristics
of the Chinese church is that we are very
good at separating our spiritual and secular
life. We emphasize theological education,
but we also compromise with the culture
around us. Believers and their children
attend church services and Sunday schools,
but we also allow our children to receive
separate our beliefs from the culture in
which we live. Is a two-hour Sunday school
