materials will be suspended until all fines are paid.
IV)If library materials are lost, marked, or damaged while
on loan, the borrower will be required to purchase a
replacement item of the same edition or a newer edition.
V)If a replacement item of the same edition is not available
on the market, the Library will follow the following
procedures:
(1)Cash compensation for lost, soiled or damaged
materials will be calculated based on the following
rules:
1. If the material is available, the cash
compensation will be twice (2X) its current
market price.
2. If the material is not available on the market, the
cash compensation will be three times (3X) its
out-of-print list price.
3. If a Chinese book or publication is not available
on the market and its list price cannot be
determined, the cash compensation will be
calculated as twice (2X) the copying fees of all
pages of the item. This will be calculated as: (2) ×
(the library’s price per A4 page) × (the total
number of pages from front cover to back cover).
If the original book or publication was published
overseas, the cash compensation will be four
times (4X) the copying fees of all pages of the
item. For an out-of-print book, the cash
compensation will be ten times (10X) the copying
fees of all pages of the book.
(2) Upon obtaining permission from the library, a non-
commercial book may be replaced with a high-
quality photocopy, i.e., double-sided and bound in
deluxe hardcover.
(3) Upon obtaining permission from the library, if the
library has duplicate copies of a lost, soiled, or
damaged book or publication, the responsible person
may compensate the library by providing a
replacement book or publication related to the same
