Dear Conference Participants,

I want to welcome you to the International Conference on Christian Education (ICCE)
here on the beautiful campus of Christ’s College in New Taipei City, Taiwan. We are so happy
that you have chosen to attend this conference where we can explore the theme “Laying a
Foundation: The Mission, Vision & Development of Christian Education” and enjoy
fellowship with other Christian educators and those interested in Christian education from
around the island and around the world as we learn together from our distinguished panel of
experienced presenters.

This conference really represents a milestone for the Christian community in Taiwan as
it is the first international conference to focus on the development of Christian education for
young people here in Taiwan as well as throughout the greater Chinese speaking world.
While we here at Christ’s College, have been focused on Christian education at the college
level since our founding in 1959, it has only been in recent years that we have seen the
beginnings of Christian school movement for students from kindergarten through high school.
We welcome these beginnings and we hope that by organizing and hosting this conference we
can encourage those who have started, are starting, or are planning to start Christian schools
for students here in Taiwan as well as those who are doing so in mainland China, and in other
countries in Asia.

As Christian teachers and administrators ourselves, we understand both the challenges
and rewards of Christian education and we are eager to engage with like-minded educators
who can help us improve in our ability to meet our student’s educational needs. Over the
next three days we have the opportunity to hear from a panel of distinguished Christian
teachers, administrators and professors who have much to share with us that can help us
develop our understanding and practice of Christian education. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us
that, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” So let us open our minds, and
share what is on our hearts and let us help each other become better and sharper Christian
educators so that we can continue to do the work that God has called us to do and bring honor
and glory to His name. I look forward to meeting you during the conference,

Quentin L. Nantz, Ed.D
President Christ’s College Taipei
