From the beginning, education has been an aspect of churches in Christian
countries in the West. Many well-known universities such as Harvard University,
Université de Paris, University of Oxford, etc., were established for the purpose
of equipping people for church ministry. Even today there are many schools
established and owned by Christians or under the auspices of the church in
many Western countries. In recent years, more and more parents in Asia, such as
the Philippines, Indonesia, and China, are seeking alternatives to public school
education. Christian education is now trending in Asia. According to a 2012
report by Canada think tank Cardus, people who graduated from non-public
school systems (including Catholic schools, Christian schools, Christian
homeschooling, and independent school systems) tended to be more successful
than those who had graduated from public schools. The evaluation included
3000 Canadians between 24 – 39, who had graduated from Christian and
non-Christian schools.

Therefore, Christ’s College Taipei and a group of Christian experts,
scholars, pastors, presidents, teachers, and parents worldwide has collaborated to
form the “2016 International Conference on Christian Education” to encourage
more people to join this Christian school education movement. By attending the
conference, participants will have a chance for further, in-depth discussion on
integrating a Christian faith foundation, philosophy, and teaching methods with
effective teaching and learning. A holistic education builds both character and
academic achievement to prepare students to make a contribution to Taiwan and
the Chinese-speaking world in the fields of education, economics, and culture.
