Utilization of audio & video data

The Library has set up the specific audio & video zone where you may borrow the audio & video materials to meet your needs.  Before you start use, please show your Identity Card to proceed with the procedures and obtain the headphones at the Library counter.  The Library audio & video area does not play any personal audio & video material and bans the use of any earphones or headphones which are not provided by the Library.


Guide to the use of copiers, Photostats
  1. The copier, Photostat services are available during:
    Monday ~ Friday: 8:00 a.m. ~ 9:00 p.m.
    Saturday: 9:00 a.m. ~ 5:00 p.m.
  2. Please purchase photocopying card from the Cashier at the General Affairs Department.
  3. Price of the photocopying card/terms of payment deduction:
    • NT$110 per card (Cost of the disposable card: NT$10), NT$100 face amount.
    • General copiers: Photocopying, NT$1 to be deducted per A4, B4 sheet; NT$2 to be deducted per A3 sheet.
    • Digital complex: Photocopying, printing, A4 size only, NT$2 per sheet.
    • Please place used photocopying cards into the retrieval box in the library.
  4. Photocopying method: Help yourself to photocopying services.
  5. Important notes:
    • The copier paper drawers are A4, vertical and horizontal, B4, A3
    • Please place photocopying paper in the drawers by yourself, using paper in the side cabinet.
    • Use of any paper other than the provided sheets. No overhead transparency is allowed.
    • Please report all problems with photocopy cards, paper, toner, etc. to the Counter immediately.
    • Please try your best to cherish our paper resources.  Refrain from making any noise.
  6. Printing with the digital complex:
    • Purposes: 
      The digital complex is provided to facilitate readers to print full texts of the databases and Internet webpages but does not serve readers in typing or printing reports in the library.
    • The digital complex services are available during:
      Monday ~ Friday: 8:00 a.m. ~ 9:00 p.m.
      Saturday: 9:00 a.m. ~ 5:00 p.m.
    • Please purchase photocopying card from the Cashier in the General Affairs Department.
    • Price of the photocopying card/terms of payment deduction:

  7. Method of photocopying, printing: DIY for photocopying and printing services.
    • For photocopying, please push “Copy” key.  Insert the photocopying card and photocopy straight.
    • For printing, please push “Print” key.  Click “print” on computer.  Insert the photocopying card.  Follow the “Print mailbox code”, select and click the print mailbox on LCD and print out the data.
  8. Important notes:
    • All photocopying through the digital complex is in A4 size ; Please place photocopying paper in the paper drawer by yourself, using paper from the side cabinet. 
    • Use of any paper other than the provided sheets. No overhead transparency is allowed. 
    • Please report to the Counter forthwith whenever in need of toner or problems in the photocopying card.
    • Please try your best to cherish the paper resources.  Refrain from making any noise.
    • Printing of any homework report is banned.

 

Rules for storage use

Please do not carry personal bags, satchels into the library. Please store them in the lockers outside the library instead.  Please be sure to keep the lockers neat and clean and please do not store any food or drinks in the cabinets.  Also please be sure to clean all personal effects out of the lockers upon completion of use.  In case of unauthorized occupation of the storage space, the Librarian is entitled to clean the storage up and assumes no responsibility for custody of items.  Damage to the school property of lockers shall be subject to penalty according to the school rules.

(1) Rules for management of open cabinets:

  • Do not store any articles overnight. The Librarian will move such articles to the library counter.  The user shall pay NT$100 penalty before being permitted to retrieve his/her articles.
  • A user who stores drinks, food, pets, or hazardous articles shall be subject to a NT$100 fine.
  • A user who has accumulated three or more defaults in a semester will be referred to the Department of Student Affairs for penalty. 

(2) Rules for coin lockers:

  • Self-service:  Please insert a NT$10 coin for each use. The coin will be returned to you after you retrieve the stored items.
  • Be sure to take good care of the key.  If the key is missing, you will be charged NT$500.  In such an event, you should describe the contents of the storage.  The Librarian will open it with a universal key (master key).  The stored articles may be retrieved only when the description proves identical to the items.

Recommendation of Books
  1. Recommendation by students:
    Please directly browse the Library’s WebPAC system before recommending any books.
  2. Recommendation by professors:
    In principle, recommendations shall be confined to books suitable for common courses and major courses.  The books may be recommended by departments (or units) so that the Library will purchase them in bulk (Please fill out the list of recommended books and have the list affixed seal by the Department Chairman before submitting it to the Library).

    • Timetable for the Library for bulk purchases:
      Around four purchases each year, in January, March, May and October.
    • Rules for Full-time Professors to purchase books from foreign sources:
      For maximum possible efficiency, full-time professors may purchase the needed books for the school when they travel abroad under three principles below:
    • Please report to the Department Chairman beforehand the anticipated costs, within the maximum limit set for each professor by the Department Chairman.  Please submit the certificate approved by the Department Chairman to the Library and confirm the list of the recommended books.
    • Whenever possible, in order to ensure sound cost control, please inform the Librarian of the titles, authors, publishers, versions, copyrights of library books intended to be purchased during a trip abroad.  If such details are unavailable beforehand, please try to inform the Librarian of such details by email (cclib@tpts5.seed.net.tw, cclib@mail.christc.org.tw) or fax (886-2-2809-5827) and obtain approval from the Librarian before purchasing the materials.
    • Please be sure to obtain the receipts in order to receive reimbursement from the school after returning from your trip.

Donation of books

Descriptions:
The Library of Christ’s College welcomes individuals and entities to donate books.  Since the Library has limited manpower and space, would-be donors are requested to contact the Librarian before donating materials.  The Library particularly appreciates donations of new materials or designated donations.  Thanks to the enthusiastic donors, readers will have the access to the most up-to-date books.

Donors are advised to note the following:

  1. Please hand the list of the intended donation to the Library beforehand to make sure whether or not such books are already a part of the library collection.
  2. The Librarian reserves the right to select and screen donations.
  3. The Librarian will present a list of the desired books to the donors after checking and verifying with the computer system.
  4. Range of donations:
    • Books related to the courses of Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and Christianity.
    • A donation is not acceptable if there are two or more copies of the same item already present in the library collection.
    • The library accepts only books which have been published within the past five years.
    • The library accepts only computer books which have been published within the past two years.
    • Donation of books is unacceptable if they are damaged, marked, or noted with writing.
    • Textbooks, comics, and pornographic books are unacceptable.
    • The Library accepts only periodicals which have been published within the past year and which are nonexistent in the library’s collection.
  5. The Librarian is entitled to discard or transfer to other libraries any unacceptable books or periodicals.
  6. Under the policy to standardize the shelves, the library declines requests from a donor to display the donated books at the specific shelves.
  7. Donors may donate cash with the request to purchase specified books which shall be within the scope of the library collection.

Set up the “Higher Education Abroad, Employment Data Zone”

The Zone was not covered in the present Library collection categorization but was classified based on the regions and alphabets of the titles.  It was read inside the Library only.  With limited human resources and expertise shortage, the Library offered no advice or inquiry for higher education and employment.

Offered recommended books of four categories for exhibition every month, inviting two professors and two students to offer recommendations.

Welcomed the maximum possible borrowing of books.
