fulfilled…Methinks our Lord is already publishing His summons in Heaven, and the

angels are preparing for their journey, and because during these six thousand years all
the great and marvelous events of which Elijah prophesied have occurred in spring
and at about Easter, I trust that Christ will also appear about Easter, and cause His
voice and thunder to be heard in a morning tempest, and then with one stroke,

confounding the heavens and the earth, in a moment on time, transform the living,
raise the dead, create a new heaven and earth, hold His judgment in the clouds, wholly
fulfil the scriptures, together with his last ‗It is finished‘! This we await.‖
It will be seen that the coming of Christ was a vital hope with Luther. With some

of the thoughts recorded of him we are not in agreement, particularly with his idea
that the son of perdition was the Roman Pontiff, But we see that he believed in the
lapse of six thousand years, or thereabouts, before the coming of Christ in judgment.
We hold with most of these worthies that the consistent teaching of the prophetic

utterances of both the Old and New Testament is that Christ will return in judgment,
destroying antichrist and his kingdom and his followers. At that time the righteous
dead will be raised. He will establish His world-wide kingdom with its center and
capital in Jerusalem. He will reign on earth one thousand years, assisted by the saints

of this age who will then have glorified bodies. The remnant of Israel will be His
immediate subjects while the ―sheep‖ among the nations will constitute the nucleus of
His subjects the world over in each nation. Satan will be bound for the thousand years
and then loosed a little season to stir up the nations again to rebellion, after which he

and his followers together with the wicked dead, raise for the judgment of the Great
White Throne, will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Then will be the eternal state in the
heavenly Jerusalem.
