P. 6

The great objective to which all prophecy looks is the restoration of the divine

government on earth at the glorious appearing and second advent of Christ. This is the
lodestar, this is the goal toward which all things press-the manifestation and
vindication of Christ the Redeemer-king. To miss the fact that Jesus Christ will visibly
appear and personally reign in this very world where He shed His blood and His tears,

having as His immediate subjects the remnant of Israel and as His more remote
subjects the residue of the nations, is to miss that which is unavoidably plain, and to
plunge one‘s self and others into a confused and hopeless tangle from which there is
no reasonable escape. So sure are we of the fact of the pre-millennial return and

earthly reign of Christ from the multitude and harmony of the scriptures that declare it,
that we are unwilling to concede that the point is even debatable, and in any future
discussion of the prophetic scriptures shall proceed from that fact as an established
                   premise.

It cannot be over emphasized that God the Father is moving toward the public
manifestation of the glory of His Son, to the confession of His Lordship by every
tongue in heaven, in earth and under the earth, even in the abyss, to a state in which
He will have the pre-eminence in all things, and will be university praised and

                   magnified.
God‘s eyes are on Christ and His purposes in Christ. Christians are called to share
His sufferings and His resurrection- life during the course of this wicked
world-system, and His glory when ―the kingdoms of this world are become the

kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.‖ The ―Blessed Hope‖ of the Christian is the
―appearing of the glory of our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,‖ (Titus2:13) and
nothing before, and nothing that is not immediately related to His glory.
