desolate‖ (Matt. 23:38).
The witness of the church was inaugurated shortly afterwards at Pentecost, but the
Jewish worship continued unabated until the destruction of the city and temple in A.D.
70. Please note, dear reader: the Jewish temple worship was co-existent with the
church of Jesus Christ, in the most vigorous days of its history, for about thirty-eight
years! Why then must the church be removed before the final recrudescence of dead
ceremonialism, for perhaps three and a half years?
In fact since He will redeem His promise not to leave Himself without a witness it
can be more confidently declared that the church must NOT be removed. For though
there be two miraculously-protected witness in Jerusalem, there must be witnesses
throughout the world, true witnesses, faithful ‗marturoi‘ (martyrs) like the beloved
Antipas, who will bear testimony to their Lord Who died for them, by ―Loving not
their own lives even unto death‖, in the fearful days of Antichrist.
When Christ returns and the church rules with Him, there will be a new and true
Israelitish outflow of witness to the nations, there will be a millennial temple, an
evening oblation.
The latter will be memorial and not propitiatory, a constant reminder that He Who
now reigns gloriously in Zion, was once the Suffering Lamb of Golgotha!
