these inner circles were in complete subservience to the tyrant everyone is aware of
the bloody purges that have taken place, time and time again, so that hardly any of the
original Bolsheviks are left who have not met their death.
When the “profit motive” or the individual desire to get ahead, which has been the
cause of all progress is destroyed there is only one alternative to make men work and
that is slave-labor─work at the point of a gun. All production in a Communist state is
brought about in this way. The history of the world has no record of messes of people
under such slavery, intimidation, coercion, such ruthless tyranny of the few over the
many as has obtained in every Communist country. There may be some excuses for
those who were deceived into accepting the plausibilities of the Marxian ideas when
they were still in a state of being fine-spun theories. But with the obvious
demonstration of the impossibility of the system─that it WILL NOT WORK, any who
hold it are culpable to the last degree. Instead of producing any dictatorship of the
proletariat it enslaves them worse than any system known to history. Instead of
producing peace and plenty there is nothing but terror and fear and the lowest kind of
standard of living.
The only glue by which the whole wicked and artificial structure can be held
together is the employment of secret police who arrest and murder in the dead of the
night and the exploitation of human fear and dread of death. The dreadfulness of
living under the iron heel of such oppression is shown by the consuming desire of
those who live under it to escape from it, as in the case of thousands who daily flee
from East Germany, leaving everything to live destitute until they can start life again
in West Germany. The reason the Communist will not accept the prisoner-of-war
agreement in Korea is because they know that a very high percentage of their own
POWs will refuse to return to their murderous tyranny and it will be a death blow to
their propaganda.
Even yet, we are persuaded that the West does not comprehend the hatred to their
own rulers that exists among people both in Russia and all of its satellites, and of the
consuming desire of this tyranny to be avenged on their oppressors. Only the
Communist despots KNOW, and they fear a war more than any people on earth,
because they are fully aware that their own armies will turn against them and that
steel clamps which can be maintained in peace time will be removed and the lid
blown off by the chaos attending the commencement of hostilities. Whereupon the
people of Russia and of her satellites will flow by the millions into the arms of the
West.
